Caring for Self, Caring for Others : Sustainable Trauma Responsive Practice

A 3 Day Program for Mental Health & Allied Health Professionals

Contents of Program

Trauma work asks much of both clients and clinicians. This three-day program provides a structured yet deeply experiential approach to building the skills, strategies, and personal presence needed for this work. Participants will learn to apply trauma-informed frameworks, including Working S.A.F.E.L.Y., the Window of Tolerance, and Polyvagal Theory, while integrating movement and yoga-informed interventions and somatic practices into Phase 1 stabilisation work. Alongside client-focused strategies, the program highlights the importance of clinician self-care through the K.I.N.D.N.E.S.S. model, fostering resilience and sustainability in practice. Participants will leave with greater clinical awareness, embodied presence, and a toolbox of practical techniques to support trauma work in diverse settings.

This is a highly experiential 3 day program with required pre- reading that will be made available to registrants . Participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance for 18hours of CPD.

Here are some reflections from previous attendees to this training:

The space you chose for us, the food that nourished us with and the time that you gave us was beyond words- thank you so much I loved every moment and this feels that it is not just a training with a "tool kit". This felt that it was for me and that type of training in our world is so sadly missing. Thank you for providing what I think has been my best training ever"

"Shirley's knowledge and experience in trauma informed care is a powerful reminder of how important reconnecting with ourselves can not only change the lives of ourselves but our clients"

"This training has given me so much new valuable material to with with- not just with clients but also in myself in my professional and private life"

"This workshop needs to be an annual practice of self care for community sector workers. It was so useful to think about PRESENCE for our clients and ourselves and the components of that. Shirley has so much knowledge and experience... everything felt very grounded in practice"
