From Trauma to Transformation- Embodied Pathways to Freedom, Fluidity and Connection
A 2 Day Program for Mental Health & Allied Health Professionals
Contents of Program
A 2-Day Immersive Program exploring the six developmental movement patterns ( Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen & Ruella Frank ) working with the principles of pendulation and titration ( Levine)
What happens when trauma changes the way we move, feel and inhabit our bodies?
In this immersive two day program, we’ll explore how developmental movement approaches can help clients move beyond familiar patterns of protection towards greater choice, connection, regulation and possibility. Rather than simply learning about the body, you will have the opportunity to experience the work in your own body—developing a deeper understanding of how movement, sensation, nervous system regulation and relational presence can support meaningful therapeutic change. More than learning a technique this workshop invites you to experience the difference between knowing about the body and knowing through the body.
Learning Outcomes
Over two days, you will develop practical skills and embodied understanding to:
Recognise how trauma lives in movement—including patterns of tension, collapse, restlessness, holding and disconnection.
Understand the developmental movement patterns of Yield/Push, Reach/Grasp and Pull/Release and their relationship to agency, contact, boundaries and functional living.
Develop greater interoceptive awareness and learn to support clients to notice and make sense of their embodied experience.
Explore movement quality, intensity and muscular organisation, and how these influence emotional, sensory and cognitive experience.
Learn how to use titration and pendulation to create a safe rhythm between activation and regulation.
Develop greater capacity to recognise when a client is moving towards overwhelm, collapse or disconnection, and respond therapeutically.
Expand your repertoire of somatic interventions for supporting clients to discover new ways of experiencing their bodies and themselves.
Strengthen your own embodied therapeutic presence, awareness and capacity for attunement.
Translate your embodied learning into practical applications for clinical practice.
Participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance for 12 hours of CPD.
Who Is This For?
Psychologists, Counsellors, Psychotherapists, Psychiatrists, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Movement Coaches, Physiotherapists
What You Will Learn
· How might a frozen body rediscover movement and possibility?
· How might an agitated body discover rhythm, stability and choice?
· How can new experiences in the body open the door to new ways of thinking, feeling and being?
Drawing on the pioneering work of Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, Ruella Frank, Peter Levine and Stephen Porges, this is an opportunity to deepen both your clinical practice and your own embodied awareness.
You will leave with new knowledge, practical tools and, most importantly, a lived experience of how embodied change can occur—so that you can bring that new possibility and experience to the people you work with.
